A Town of Winds displays artworks, paintings, graphic arts and drawings which portray the City of Kotka. This exhibition presents up to 80 artworks by 32 artists portraying the City of Kotka, some of them living in Kotka, others elsewhere in Finland. The exhibition’s artworks cover the period from 1906 to 2017.
The exhibition examines how artists have portrayed the city and which aspects have raised interest. The artists’ selection of topics express both stability and change. The change in the cityscape is clearly visible in this exhibition: these artworks show how many buildings have vanished from the cityscape.
The curator of the the exhibition is artist Olavi Heino. The Kymenlaakso museum has received subsidies from the Ministry of Education and Culture for this project.
